KMAA Children’s Martial Arts
Children’s Martial Arts is an exciting martial arts program focusing on character development, physical fitness and practical self-defense. We “Build Confidence Through Achievement” and provide an environment conducive to positive relationships, fostering self-discipline, self-confidence and self-respect. We teach basic escape techniques and use role-playing exercises. While teaching your children, we promote a safe and playful environment as they learn how to handle potentially dangerous situations. Your child will have fun building strength, confidence and focus. All levels of experience are welcome, including beginning and advanced students. Ages range from 5 to 18. Students are grouped according to maturity and skill level. The discipline aspects of martial arts training lead to higher self esteem, better grades and the ability to navigate through difficult situations that children often encounter today. Learning is the key to all our work. Classes are taught by certified black belts in a safe, fun, & adult supervised environment.
6 Reasons why your child should take Martial Arts
-
Focus - Martial Arts is a great form of exercise and develops mind, body and spirit. Unlike some other forms of exercise, the practice of Martial Arts engages the whole body and mind. Whether you are practicing Kata (forms), Muay Thai (kick boxing), Kubudo or partner exercises such as Jiu-Jitsu, your mind is actively focused and your entire body is used to perform each movement.
-
Discipline – In addition to learning how to physically defend themselves, students learn to use their good judgment, inner focus, confidence and self-control to diffuse conflict before it escalates. They learn to apply their dedication to and perseverance in martial arts to all aspects of their life. KMAA’s students develop confidence to defuse a situation before it becomes dangerous. We believe Martial Arts is an excellent cross training activity. Whether you play baseball, football, basketball, soccer, hockey, dance, cheerleading or any other sport, you will benefit from your Martial Arts training.
-
Respect - One of the most important aspects of Martial Arts is the development of good character in students, in and out of the dojo (Karate school). KMAA’s students are instructed in the “way” of the Martial Arts. They are guided to respect parents, teachers, classmates, siblings, and friends. Students are taught to even respect an aggressor by using their Martial Arts skills defensively and never using their capabilities offensively or to intentionally hurt anyone. Typically, when confronted with conflict a person will freeze; with a good mix of self-confidence and physical skills, students will instinctively know how to handle any confrontational situation. Students in KMAA take pride in, and respect, their dojo, their skills, themselves, and mostly importantly others.
-
Self-Defense - The number one reason why most people take up a martial art is for self-defense, and pretty much any style is a great way to learn how to defend oneself. Not only will the martial arts teach you the techniques to defend yourself, but also the way to think about defending yourself. They also help you build up the reflexes you need and give you the confidence to fight back.
-
Self Confidence - As children become more proficient in their selected style of martial arts, their confidence gets a big-boost. They become more self-assured and confident. Their Sensei’s (Teacher’s) encouragement goes a long way to help them achieve this goal, but the confidence level will extend far beyond the Dojo.
-
Physical Fitness - Just like with adults, one of the most common reasons for enrolling a child into a martial arts class is fitness. More and more children are spending a lot more time in front of the television, playing video games and using a computer. However, even among more active children, martial arts is still attractive since it is seen as a very good source of exercise that also teaches skills. Martial arts can help improve cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, balance, strength and overall energy levels.
